There is something inherently romantic and truly fun about decorating yourself in flowers. But perhaps us florists are fighting a losing battle here? Perhaps the delicate nature and, often times, weight of these pieces is too awkward to bare?
I wanted to really give this medium a try for two reasons: to see whether I could find something more comfortable, and to enjoy the art of crafting with flowers on a smaller scale. And when better for this event than as part of a feature on the classic spring prom.
But don’t let the idea of “prom” hold you back from imagining all the ways in which you can incorporate wearable floral art into your event or shoot! Perhaps an elaborate half crown for a maternity shoot? Or elegant floral additions to your wedding? A fun, full headband for a child’s birthday party?
What do you think: would you like to wear a crown of flowers?
An artistic winding of sweet blooms, made to be pinned into the hair for a more secure fit.
Floral Headbands
Simple, or more elaborate, florals made to sit comfortably like a traditional headband – because it is one! I tried a couple of charming, on-trend silhouettes as an alternative to the bohemian flower crown.

a moment for the boutonniere
I’ve been loving more elaborate floral additions for the classic men’s jacket. Why not more flowers for everyone?
